Jakarta (ANTARA News) - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono closely observes the security situation in Indonesia on Tuesday as the General Election Commission (KPU) plans to announce the winner of 2014 presidential election today.

"The president is communicating through video conference with high ranking officials from the police and military to ensure that the situation in Indonesia remains secured," presidential spokesman Julian Aldrin Pasha said here on Tuesday through short text message.

According to Julian, Coordinating Minister for Politic Law and Security Djoko Suyanto, in his report to President Yudhoyono through video conference, said the security situation in Indonesia is under control.

"President Yudhoyono instructs all military and police personnel to continue conducting their duty of securing the situation in Indonesia. The president expects the situation in Indonesia will remain peaceful," said Julian.

The General Election Commission (KPU) is conducting final meeting on Tuesday to recap the voting results from districts and provinces in Indonesia. The commission is expected to announce the winner of 2014 presidential today at 4 pm local time.

Indonesia just held its presidential election last July 9 which was contested by two pairs namely Prabowo Subianto and his vice presidential candidate Hatta Radjasa and Joko Widodo with his running mate Jusuf Kalla.
