All of a sudden we heard this big boom."
New York (ANTARA News/Xinhua-OANA) - Two buses crashed Tuesday afternoon in New Yorks Times Square and 14 people are being treated for injuries, three in serious conditions, according to officials from the Big Apple.

Local media quoted Fire Department official John Wieland as saying that the injured were treated at the scene right away before being taken to hospital.

Orville Anderson from the Bronx said he was sitting on the red steps of the TKTS booth when the accident took place.

"All of a sudden we heard this big boom," he said. "I saw the light pole going over and falling down. I looked over and saw people lying on the ground."

Most of those injured were hit by flying debris when the lamp post went down. One persons head was stuck under the dashboard of a bus, but her injuries were not serious, fire officials said at the scene.

The accident took place at around 3:30 p.m. at 47th Street and 7th Avenue. Firefighters and police were seen rushing to the site and the area was cordoned off.

Its not yet clear what caused the crash in one of the busiest pedestrian areas in New York City.
