Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Jakarta Regional Police have deployed 22,000 police personnel to provide security around the Constitutional Court building here during election dispute hearing.

"At least 2,000 people had conducted a rally in front of the Constitutional Court building," the Head of Public Relation for Jakarta Regional Police, Senior Commissioner Rikwanto, said here on Wednesday.

Rikwanto explained that the people who had conducted demonstration in front of the court were the supporters of president and vice president candidates Prabowo Subianto and Hatta Rajasa, famous with Red White Coalition.

The police have implemented three levels of security: the first in the hearing room, the second in the court building, and the third outside the building.

The security officers and police had selected the visitors who will be present during the hearing. Everyone who wants to enter the building should show a specific identity card.

Rikwanto added that the officers also operated metal detectors and used security door to sterilize the room.

The panel of judges held preliminary hearing on a dispute filed by Prabowo-Hatta duo against the July 9 presidential elections results.

Chief of Jakarta Regional Police Inspector General Dwi Priyatno asked the supporters of both the president and vice president candidates not to disrupt the hearing.

The hearing was attended by Prabowo Subianto, his running mate Hatta Rajasa, and other prominent politicians such as Amien Rais, Aburizal Bakrie, Anis Matta, and Akbar Tanjung, whose parties are part of a coalition with Prabowo Subiantos Great Indonesia Movement (Gerindra) Party.
