Jakarta (ANTARA News) - A chairman of the National Awakening Party (PKB) Abdul Kadir Karding dismissed fear that Prabowo's block or the Red and White Coalition (KMP) is seeking to impeach president elect Joko Widodo (Jokowi) who will be installed on Oct 20.

There has been rumors about impeachment and the fear heightened after KMP,which is led by defeated presidential candidate Prabowo Subianto, took control of the People Consultative Assembly (MPR).

MPR , which groups the parliament and the Regional Representative Council (DPD) members, is an institution with the authority to amend the Constitution and install and impeach the president.

KMP was victorious in the election that ended early in the morning of Wednesday for MPR leaders after a similarly sweeping victory in the election of the leaders of the parliament last month.

"There are such fear but see Zulkifli (the new speaker of MPR), and his deputies E.E. Mangindaan, Osman Sapta Odang and Hidayat Nur Wahid. They are all wise people," Karding said here on Wednesday.

Kardings PKB belonged to the defeated rival coalition supporting Jokowi.

He said the election had been fair with KMP favored with 347 votes or a slight margin of 17 over the rival coalition.

KMP already succeeded in directing the parliament into revising the law on regional election system.

Under the revised law regional leaders would be elected by the regional legislative assembly replacing the previous system of direct election by the people.

Karding said his party accepted the defeat, adding defeat or victory is normal.

He blamed the defeat on too much self confidence that the DPD would be fully in support of the ruling coalition, which named Osman Sapta Odang from DPD as candidate for MPR speaker.

He also acknowledge his coalitions weakness in political lobbying resulting in the loss of part of the DPD votes.

Political rivalry between the two coalitions had been sharp especially after presidential candidate Prabowo and his coalition lost their cause in the Constitutional Court.

Prabowo and his coalition , accusing that the election had been massively rigged, brought their case to the court but lost.
