MELBOURNE, Australia, Nov. 19, 2014 (ANTARA/Medianet International-AsiaNet) --

Small business confidence in Indonesia is again showing its strength with small businesses reporting an excellent 2014 and continued growth expected over 2015 - the strongest results of all the markets surveyed.

Global accounting body CPA Australia today released the results of its sixth annual Asia Pacific Small Business Survey.

CPA Australia chief executive, Alex Malley, says the survey results show there is sustained strength in the small business sector in Indonesia.

"The survey results reveal a successful and confident small business sector in Indonesia, with three in every four reporting that they grew over 2014," Mr Malley said.

"Looking to 2015 the results look even stronger with 82 per cent of small businesses expecting to grow in the year ahead.

"Another important indicator we track in our survey is confidence in the economy, and here again Indonesia is performing strongly with 89 per cent of small businesses expecting the economy to grow next year.

"When it comes to both performance and confidence, Indonesia's small business sector is outperforming all other markets covered in the survey.

"The results also show that many businesses are investing in capital assets, taking steps to improve staff productivity and use new technologies, including social media, which are all helping their businesses to go from strength to strength," Mr Malley said.

Other key findings from the CPA Australia Asia Pacific Small Business Survey for Indonesia include:

- 69 per cent of respondents in Indonesia expect to add to staff numbers over 2015.
- 79 per cent of respondents stated that they were likely to seek external financing over the next 12 months to help grow their business and for business survival.
- 98 per cent of Indonesian respondents stated that they use social media for business purposes such as promoting their business to potential customers.

The CPA Australia Asia Pacific Small Business Survey provides annual insight into the views of small businesses across Australia, Mainland China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Malaysia, New Zealand, Singapore and Vietnam and form part of a longitudinal study that began in 2009.
