Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The newly appointed head of the Agency for the Placement and Protection of Indonesian Migrant Workers (BNP2TKI) Nusron Wahid vowed to provide improved protection to migrant workers.

"As head of the BNP2TKI, I choose to take the side of Indonesian migrant workers," he stated after taking over the post from his predecessor Gatot Abdullah Mansyur here on Friday.

Wahid promised that the BNP2TKI will offer better services and protection to the Indonesian migrant workers, both on arrival and departure.

The BNP2TKIs revamped services are intended to minimize and thwart the issue of illegal migrant workers.

"We have to take the side of migrant workers and curb the problem of illegal migrant workers. If there are any illegal migrant workers, then there must be something wrong in the services. Basically, every worker wants to be legal," he affirmed.

Wahid claimed that there are no problems faced in the hiring, departure, and bureaucratic processes. He further promised to fix the problem, so that in future, there are no illegal migrant workers.

"The key is commitment, fulfilling promises, and taking the side of migrant workers," he noted.

Wahid also urged all related parties to coordinate in a bid to improve the services offered to migrant workers.

"The more any agency is involved, the better it is," he added.
