Jakarta - President Joko Widodo officially announced the dismissal of General Sutarman as the National Police chief.

"From now on, starting this moment, I carried out a presidential decree (about dismissal of police chief) so that the duties, powers and responsibilities given to Commissioner General Badrodin Haiti," General Sutarman said here on Friday evening.

According to him, all police activities including the development and operation of the police would be led by Haiti.

Meanwhile, Haiti expressed his readiness to carry out duties as acting National Police chief.

"As deputy chief I will perform duties, authority and responsibility of National Police chief," Haiti said.

"He also urged the whole range of the Police to carry out the duties and obligations according to the expectations and demands of society."

On Friday, Jokowi issued two Presidential Regulation (Perpres). The first Presidential Regulation regarding the delay of Commissioner General Budi Gunawan became National Police chief.

While the second Presidential Regulation about the dismissal of General Sutarman as National Police chief. The President appointed Haiti as acting National Police chief.
