Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The share price index of the Indonesian Stock Exchange (BEI) hit an all time record high at 5,253.18 points on Thursday.

The index rose 37.91 points or 0.73 percent with index of 45 most liquid stocks up 0.88 percent to 910.78.

"Positive growth recorded by Asian markets and rupiah appreciation contributed to the rise in index and reached a record high ," chief researcher of Woori Korindo Securities Indonesia Reza Priyambada said.

The previous record high was 5,246 points on 8 September 2014.

Reza said strong market expectation of stimulus to be announced by the European Central Bank (ECB) with bond buying program prompted investors to turn to stock market.

The trade on Thursday was marked with a foreign net sail of Rp249.787 billion as against a net buy of Rp218.085 billion on Wednesday.

There were 283,616 transactions on Thursday with 6.09 billion shares valued at Rp6.74 trillion changing hands.

Gainers outnumbered decliners by 212 to 128 shares with 79 shares remaining flat.

Regional markets such as Hang Seng, Nikkei and Straits Times gained .(*)
