Komnas HAM will soon summon parties concerned with the case, including KPK chiefs, Acting Police Chief Commissioner General Badrodin Haiti and Police`s Chief of Criminal Investigation Unit Inspector General Budi Waseso.
Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The National Commission on Human Rights (Komnas HAM) has formed a team to investigate an alleged criminalization of one of the Chiefs of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Bambang Widjojanto.

The team consists of 22 members of which eight are Komnas HAM commissioners. The team has been formed following several reports from NGOs alleging criminalization of KPK chiefs, Komnas HAM Commissioner Nur Kholis said here on Tuesday.

"We are considering all the reports received from NGOs. Our focus will be on the alleged criminalization of KPK chiefs," Nur Kholis added.

According to him, Komnas HAM will soon summon parties concerned with the case, including KPK chiefs, Acting Police Chief Commissioner General Badrodin Haiti, Polices Chief of Criminal Investigation Unit Inspector General Budi Waseso, and the Chief of Kotawaringin District.

Komnas HAM had earlier questioned KPK Deputy Chairman Bambang Widjojanto who the National Police have named in a 2010 regional election dispute case.

On January 23, the National Police named Bambang Widjojanto in the election dispute case.

According to Police spokesman Insp. Gen. Ronny Sompie, Bambang has been accused of prompting witnesses to give false testimony at the Constitutional Court on the election dispute at Kotawaringin Barat, Central Kalimantan, when he was still a lawyer.

Bambang, who joined KPK later and became one of its top five leaders, was not arrested but questioned by police, Ronny remarked.

Ronny observed that police received a report about his alleged role in false testimony only on Jan. 15; the report has been backed by expert opinions and documents, he stressed.

Sompie has denied any link between the Bambang case and KPKs naming of police Commr. Gen. Budi Gunawan a corruption suspect on Jan. 13.

Budi Gunawan was named corruption suspect after President Joko Widodoto nominated him to replace Gen. Sutarman as national police chief.(*)
