Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The government will lower the price of subsidized diesel oil from Rp6,400 to Rp6,200 per liter in mid-February 2015, official said

"Just wait for the announcement," the Secretary General of Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry, Teguh Pamuji, said here on Thursday.

But he does not know the exact announcement and application of the decline in the price of diesel oil subsidy.

Earlier, the Acting Director General of Oil and Gas I Gusti Nyoman Wiratmadja remarked that the government will reduce the price of diesel oil subsidy in February 15, 2015.

Meanwhile, the announcement of the price of diesel oil subsidy would be conducted on February 12 until February 13, 2015.

Teguh stated that the decline of the price of diesel oil subsidy can be made following the development of the world oil prices which were lower than the previous period.

"The decline is related to an agreement with the Commission VII some time ago," he said.

At the conclusion of the working meeting of the Commission VII with the Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Sudirman Said on Wednesday (February 4), the Commission VII asked the Energy and Mineral Resources Minister to lower the price of subsidized diesel in accordance with the regulation.

In a meeting on Tuesday (February 3), Commission VII actually asked the government to reduce the price of diesel subsidy soon.

In fact, the government has decided diesel prices amounted to Rp6,400 per liter on February 1, 2015.

However, the timing of the decline in prices of diesel was submitted to the government and the government chose February 15, 2015.

According to Minister Regulation No. 4 of 2015 on retail prices, the price of fuel can be determined twice a month.(*)
