Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Former anti-graft agency chief Abraham Samad did not honor the summon issued by the police for questioning on Friday, citing scheduled events and incomplete summon.

His lawyer Dadang Trisasongko confirmed his clients failure to meet the police summon in a text message received here that day, saying that "(He) would not come. This morning, we sent a letter to notify the South Sulawesi police, through our team of lawyers in the region, about his failure to come."

Abraham Samad was named a suspect since February 9, 2015, based on a report from Feriyani Lim, a resident of Pontianak, West Kalimantan, who has also been named a suspect over alleged falsification of residence administrative document.

His naming as a suspect came soon after the KPK named national police chief candidate Commissioner General Budi Gunawan as a suspect in an alleged corruption case and also after KPK Deputy Commissioner Bambang Widjojanto was named a suspect by the police over an alleged case of false court testimony.

While applying for a passport in 2007, Feriyani Lim falsified her application document to show as though she was an Abraham Samad family member living on Jalan Boulevard in the village of Masale, Panakkukang sub-district, Makassar, South Sulawesi.

As he was named as a suspect, President Joko Widodo recently issued a decision to temporarily dismiss Abraham Samad and Bambang Widjojanto and appoint acting commissioners to replace them.

President Joko Widodo on Wednesday also cancelled the nomination of Budi Gunawan and named acting police chief Commissioner Badrodin Haiti as the new candidate for the post of national police chief, an apparent effort to settle the feud between the police and the KPK.

"Today, AS (Abraham Samad) has to attend several events that have long been scheduled, and therefore, he could not honor the summon," Dadang Trisasongko noted.

He further explained that Abraham did not meet the summon as it was incomplete, adding that it was not accompanied by a copy of the investigation order.

"As the summon is not accompanied with sprindik, it is assumed that no probe has actually been carried out so far," he pointed out.

Regarding a possible summon in the future, Dadang said he did not know whether Abraham would honor it.

"Let us just see. We keep monitoring the polices move in connection with the case," he remarked.

Abraham has denied having committed any crime in connection with the case filed against him.

"I never knew a woman named Feriyani Lim," he revealed at a press conference on Tuesday (Feb. 17) in connection with the polices accusation.

"I also do not exactly know about document falsification because since 1999, I live on Jalan Mapala. It has perplexed me personally because the building (on Jalan Boulevard) is a shop house. Based on that, I do not know what their intentions are with regard to all the accusation and charges," he stated.

Abraham strongly believes that he and Bambang Widjojanto have been targeted, and therefore, they had been named as suspects.

"But, I am aware of it. I heard rumors that I and Pak BW (Bambang Widjojanto) have been made targets. I personally am ready to meet the summon and respect the legal process," he added.(*)
