Jakarta (ANTARA News) - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has affirmed that the current stock of rice will be sufficient until the next harvest season in March and April 2015.

"I want to say that now, we have 1.4 million tons of rice in stock, and it is sufficient to last until the harvest season next March and April," the president remarked while overseeing the simultaneous distribution of "rice for the poor" (Raskin) and rice market operations at the Jakarta regional division of the State Logistics Agency (Bulog) storehouse here on Wednesday.

Jokowi noted that irrespective of the rice demand, the stocks will suffice, including in the largest Cipinang wholesale market.

"Do not think that we have a limited stock of rice. It will remain available no matter how much we need," the head of state affirmed.

President Jokowi reiterated that the government is also ready to distribute 300 thousand tons of rice, through market operations, to control the fluctuating rice prices.
