"Today, if Justice Minister Yasonna Laoly legitimizes the Golkar Partys leadership set up during the Jakarta congress without waiting for the courts verdict, we would report him to the KPK and the AGO," stated Bambang Soesatyo, the general treasurer of Golkar Party under Aburizal Bakries leadership set up in the congress in Bali.
Golkar Party, one of the major political parties in Indonesia, has been divided into two camps, respectively led by incumbent general chairman Aburizal Bakrie and incumbent deputy general chairman Agung Laksono.
Following the results of a four-member party tribunal, Justice Minister Laoly recently gave recognition to Laksonos leadership that led to a protest from the Aburizal camp, which then filed a suit challenging the decision in court.
Bambang Soesatyo noted that his camp would report the minister to the KPK and the AGO for allegedly violating Article 23 of Law Number 31 of 1999 on corruption in conjunction with Article 421 of the Criminal Code.
He revealed that there had been cases of document forgery involving participants in the congress in Ancol.
"The minister of justice may not side with one of the Golkar Party camps before a court ruling is issued," he added.
Yorrys Raweyai, the deputy general chairman of the Laksono-led Golkar Party, said rumors were rife that Justice Minister Laoly would produce a decree confirming the board of the Golkar Party under Laksonos leadership this week.
The Laksono-led Golkar Party has been communicating with the justice minister about the issue.
He noted that soon after the decree was issued, the party would change the structure of its representatives in the parliament.(*)
