In addition to the implementation of a paper-based test ..."Jakarta (ANTARA News) - A total of 3,773,372 Junior High School (SMP) and Madrasah Tsanawiyah (MTS) students in the country will appear in the national exam scheduled on May 4-7.
"In addition to the implementation of a paper-based test, some 9,512 schools will hold a computer-based test," Head of Research and Development of the Ministry of Culture and Primary and Secondary Education, Furqon, stated here on Monday.
During the national exam, the students will firstly appear for the Indonesian language test. Furqon gave assurance that no constraints were reported for the implementation of the national exam.
Unlike last year, the national exam will no longer determine whether a student graduates.
The national exam is one of the metrics of the educational quality in the region.
"The national exam will have three uses: mapping the quality of programs and educational units, serving as a basis of selection for the next level of education, and offering guidance to the education units to improve their quality of education," he explained.
The standard score of this years national exam is 5.5, but the score is not a determining factor for graduation.
"However, if the secondary students do not achieve the standard score, they will not take another test the following year as an average score will not determine graduation," he affirmed.
He hopes that the implementation of the national exam can run smoothly, and there will be no leaks and cheating.
Earlier, 30 out of the 11,730 exam material packages nationwide were uploaded online to Google Drive. The national exam documents were reportedly available online for three days, from Saturday to Monday. The material was uploaded by an individual working in a printing company.
