Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The government held a national coordinating meeting to discuss a plan for organizing simultaneous regional head elections (Pilkada) scheduled for December 9, 2015.

"The coordinating meeting is meant to develop harmony and synergy among stakeholders for the smooth implementation of simultaneous regional head elections," Home Affairs Minister Tjahjo Kumolo stated here, Monday.

Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Tedjo Edhy Purdijatno also delivered a speech during the meeting.

Synergy among all concerned parties is the key to successful implementation of the local elections, the minister pointed out.

"This is a common foundation for organizing smooth, orderly, and peaceful simultaneous regional head elections," the chief minister affirmed.

The coordinating meetings agenda included discussions on related regulations, funding and personnel support, population data, security support, and solutions to possible conflicts.

The meeting was attended by Justice and Human Rights Minister Yassona Laoly, governors, district heads, and mayors of regions that will hold regional head elections in December 2015.

Several legislators of the House of Representatives Commission II, officials of the State Audit Agency (BPK) and the Attorney Generals Office, and the General Elections Commission (KPU) and the General Election Supervision Agency (Bawaslu) commissioners were present during the meeting.
