Jakarta (ANTARA News) - State Enterprises Minister Rini Soemarno has dismissed president director of state-owned postal firm PT Pos Indonesia Budi Setiawan for allegedly being involved in a corruption case related to the procurement of portable data terminals.

"The policy to dismiss the president director of PT Pos Indonesia is aimed at upholding the ongoing legal process and giving him a chance to focus on his trial," Head of the Public Communication of the State Enterprises Ministry Teddy Purnama said here on Thursday.

Purnama said shareholders of the state-owned postal company also have dismissed the companys director of technology and financial service Budhi Setyawan for his alleged part in the corruption case.

Earlier, the Attorney Generals Office has named Budi Setiawan and Budhi Setyawan as suspects in the alleged case of corruption related to the procurement of portable data terminals in 2013.

The case surrounds the procurement of portable data terminal to facilitate the control of goods deliveries.

However, the devices did not function, thereby inflicting state losses of Rp10.5 billion.

Early in September 2014, the Attorney Generals Office seized 1,650 units of portable data terminal from the Jakarta Large Post Office and searched the Head Office of PT Pos Indonesia in Bandung, Wes Java.

Budi Setiawan and Budhi Setyawan assumed the posts of president director and technology and financial service director of PT Pos Indonesia respectively in July 2013.(*)
