Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Indonesian Central Body of Statistics (BPS) will conduct Economic Census 2016 to obtain new data related to the business sector in Indonesia.

"This census is aimed at obtaining data on the total number of business sectors in Indonesia," Head of the BPS Suryamin said here on Friday.

He added that the business sector survey, which will be started in 2016, will cover characteristics, types, and distributions of all business sectors in Indonesia, from cities to remote areas.

The survey, which has been planned since 2014, is currently in the preparation phase, while the field survey will be conducted in 2016.

The information and data gathered will then be processed and analyzed from 2017 to 2018.

"We will be surveying businesses from the micro to macro scale. This survey will also cover haberdashers and street vendors," Suryamin affirmed.

The business sectors that will be surveyed include the fields of manufacturing, housing, mining, excavation, domestic and overseas trading, as well as services.

The agricultural business sector will not be covered as the BPS had surveyed the field in 2013.

"The current data is still relevant," Suryamin added.
