Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Vice President M. Jusuf Kalla here, Tuesday, is slated to meet World Bank President Jim Yong Kim, who is paying a visit to Indonesia.

The World Bank president is on a four-day visit until May 22, 2015, the vice presidents secretariat said in a statement.

Kim is also scheduled to meet President Joko Widodo (Jokowi), Yogyakarta Governor Sri Sultan Hamengku Bawono (HB) X, and Finance Minister Bambang Brodjonegoro.

He is also expected to visit Sunda Kelapa and Tanjung Priok harbors in North Jakarta, and several community-based projects funded by World Bank.

In a press statement earlier, the World Bank chief stated that Indonesia is one of the most important countries among shareholders of the World Bank, especially the World Bank office in Jakarta. Set up in 1968, it was the first branch office to be opened outside of Washington D.C.

"We support the mission of President Joko Widodo to eradicate poverty and pursue prosperity that is more evenly distributed across this vast archipelago. Indonesia should be proud of the remarkable progress it has made and its achievements with regard to poverty reduction," he remarked.

He added that decreasing poverty to 11.3 percent in fifteen years was a great accomplishment.

In addition, the World Bank president believes that Indonesia will continue to reduce poverty faster to improve peoples welfare.
