Indonesia could rise to become a big nation if it is free from corruption."
Jakarta (ANTARA News) - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) asked law enforcement agencies to create synergy in the fight against corruption in the country.

"Police, the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) and the prosecution office should strengthen commitment and cooperation in fighting corruption," the president said.

The president said he wants the three law enforcement agencies to remain clean and have the courage with authority in carrying out its battle against corruption.

He said he had never backed down from his commitment to the efforts to stamping out corruption from the country.

"Indonesia could rise to become a big nation if it is free from corruption," he said.

Surveys have said Indonesia is one of the most corrupt nations in the world.

KPK should maintain its authority but also respects the authority of other agencies , he said, adding he had worked hard to form a selection team for new KPK leaders.

"The KPK selection committee should have unquestioned integrity as well as skills," he said.

The president has formed the selection committee chaired by Destry Damayantia, an economic and monetary expert, with Enny Nurbaningsih, an expert in constitutional law as deputy chairperson.

Other members of the committee are Harkrituti Haskrisnowo, an expert in criminal law, and human rights; Betti Alisjabana, an expert in information technology and management affairs, Supra Wimbarti, a psychologist, Yenti Garnasih, Natalia Subagio, Diani Sadiawati and Meuthia Ganie Sadiawati.
