We implemented the court`s decision."
Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Acting chief of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Taufiqqurahman Ruki said here on Thursday that the agency had lost only three of the 15 pretrial lawsuits filed against it so far.

"In 2015, of the 15 pretrial lawsuits filed against us, only three were fulfilled, while the remaining others were rejected. So in terms of quantity, it is not too bad," he stated in defense of the anti-graft agencys performance during a hearing with Commission III of the House of Representatives.

He added that losing only three lawsuits filed against it reflected the hard work of KPK investigators.

Despite the similarities in the 15 lawsuits, they had differences in their substance which had made them "work very hard," he remarked.

With regard to the case of Budi Gunawan, a former candidate for the post of the national police chief, Ruki pointed out that Gunawan had filed a lawsuit over his naming as a suspect in a case of corruption. This was when Gunawan had yet to be categorized as a state administrator because he was still an echelon II official.

"Deciding that he was neither a state administrator nor a law enforcement official, the court had ruled that he was not under the authority of the KPK. It was not about evidence," he pointed out.

In the second case, which was related to former mayor of Makassar Ilham Arief Siradjudin, he noted that the commission had lost because it was considered to have no evidence to declare Siradjudin as a suspect in a corruption case.

However, Ruki added that the KPK did in fact have evidence, but as it had been presented in the form of a photocopy, the court had considered it illegitimate.

"We implemented the courts decision. We revoked the order for investigation. But with the evidence we have, we issued a new investigation order once again," he affirmed.

On the case involving former director general of taxation Hadi Poernomo, he noted that the agency will not concede yet but will file an appeal against the courts decision. If it is turned down later, it will seek a judicial review.
