Jakarta (ANTARA News) - A media report claiming the arrest of an Indonesian in Iran for being part of the ISIS movement was not confirmed, according to Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi.

"We have spoken to our ambassador in Teheran, and that information is not yet confirmed," she said here on Thursday.

Conversing with journalists after accompanying President Joko Widodo to receive Vietnams deputy prime minister, she said an immediate verification was conducted when the media report on the arrest was released.

However, Retno affirmed that the truth behind the media report was not yet available after her people traced the source of the news.

When questioned about the arrest of 52 Indonesians in China for their alleged involvement in drug use and trafficking, she replied that the Foreign Ministry is still studying this case.

The Chinese Government has reportedly arrested 52 Indonesians in drug-related cases, in which seven of them were detained by the Chinese authority.

According to the Indonesian embassy in Beijing, one of the seven detained Indonesians was still awaiting the country's trial process to begin.

However, the Indonesian Consulate General in Guangzhou revealed that there were only 45 Indonesians who allegedly got involved in drug-related cases.

"Comprising 28 women and 17 men, they are primarily young, and most of them are reportedly drug couriers," affirmed Indonesian Consul General in Guangzhou Ratu Silvy Gayatri.

In connection with this case, Indonesian Ambassador to China Soegeng Rahardjo remarked that he has continued to issue warnings to all Indonesians to not get involved in drug crimes.

"We are highly concerned about our peoples involvement in drug crimes. They usually work as couriers," he added.

In 2014, China detained 1,832 foreign nationals for their alleged involvement in drug smuggling activities.
