Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Jakarta composite index (JCI) closed higher on Friday with the receding turbulence in Chinas stock exchange.

The index of the Indonesian Stock Exchange (BEI) rose 20.75 points or 0.43 percent to 4,859.03 percent with index of 45 most liquid stock up 0.62 percent to 829.82 points.

Chief researcher of Universal Broker Indonesia Satrio Utomo the receding negative sentiment in Chinas Shanghai Stock Exchange brought about positive sentiment to the regional markets including BEI.

"Technically, the JCI was already t the psychological level of 4,855 to 4,866 points. Investors could buy back share selectively," he said.

He said foreign investors have also started buying shares giving a push to the JCI as indicated by a foreign net buy of Rp1.389 trillion on Friday.

"The condition, however, is still volatile," he said.

Trade on Friday was recorded with 208,959 transactions and 3.85 billion shares valued at Rp3.57 trillion changing hands.

Gainers outnumbered decliners by 176 to 111 shares v with b96 shares remaining flat.

Regional markets such as Hang Seng and Straits Times gained but Nikkei declined.
