Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) said the Indonesian currency rupiah lost 0.58 percent of its value against the US dollar in June.

The weakest middle rate was recorded in third week of June at the level of 13,306.43 per dollar on the average in 34 provinces.

"Rupiah depreciated 0.58 percent in June against the US dollar," head of BPS Suryamin said here on Wednesday.

West Sumatra recorded the lowest value at the level of 13,400 per dollar in middle exchange rate in the second week of June, Suryamin said.

Rupiah also lost 0.28 percent of its value against the Australian dollar on the average in the 34 provinces with the lowest value recorded in the third week of June at the level of 10,297.32 per Australian dollar.

West Nusa Tenggara recorded the lowest value at the level of 10,475 per Aust. dollar in the first week of that month.

The Indonesian currency sank deeper losing 3.05 percent of its value against euro on the average in the 34 provinces in June with the lowest value recorded in the third week of that month at the level of 15,002.40 per euro.

Riau recorded the lowest value at the level of 15,175 per euro in the third week of June.

Rupiah recorded only an appreciation against Japans yen gaining 0.65 percent in 34 provinces on the average with the highest value at 106.17 per yen in the first week of June.

The strongest value by province was recorded by Aceh at the level of 97.50 per yen in the fourth week of that month.
