"The issue of inter-religious harmony should be concerned by all parties," Chairman of Regional Representatives Council (DPD) Irman Gusman said.
Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Religious harmony problems in the country should be considered by various parties to strengthen the national motto of Unity in Diversity (Bhinneka Tunggal Ika), Chairman of Regional Representatives Council (DPD) Irman Gusman stated.

"The issue of inter-religious harmony should be concerned by all parties," Irman Gusman said when opening the joined meeting of the House of Representatives (DPR) and Regional Representatives Council (DPD) here on Friday.

According to Gusman, Indonesian people should ensure unity ia a bid to avoid interference both inside and outside the country which undermine the harmony of the nation.

Therefore, Indonesian people should strengthen the national motto unity in diversity (Bhinneka Tunggal Ika) by fostering a sense of tolerance.

Earlier, Chairman of the Peoples Consultative Assembly Zulkifli Hasan said that Indonesia must rely on the development of quality human resources.

"In the 1980s, Indonesia relied on natural resources such as crude oil and wood," Zulkifli Hasan said when opening the annual plenary meeting of the Peoples Consultative Assembly (MPR) here on Friday.

As a result, the forest areas were damaged which led to landslides and floods. While the foreign exchange which was earned from the export of natural resources did not restore its impacts.

In the 1990s, Indonesia still relied on the export of raw natural resource commodities such as petroleum, coal and other minerals.

"Natural resources continued to decrease, while it was influenced by international market price movements," he stated.

"The challenge of the future is to create competitive human resources who master of science in various fields," he said.

Hasan the improvement of human resources was in line with the theme of the government.

According to him, the government should consider three main sectors such as food, energy and transportation.

"The three sectors should be managed by well-trained human resources," he said.(*)
