Jakarta (ANTARA) -
State railway company PT Kereta Api Indonesia (PT KAI) will be conducting a trial of Palembang South Sumatra's Light Rail Transit (LRT) from September 22 to 23, 2019.
"The trial will be conducted in order to cut the travel time from the airport's station to DJKA station, which before had to be cut from 60 minutes to 47 minutes," Public Relations Manager of PT KAI Divre III Palembang, Aida Suryanti, remarked in a statement received in Jakarta, Saturday.
With this trial, PT KAI expected the daily trip will be increasing from 58 to 76 trips, as its operational time is 5:12 am to the last trip at 20:25 pm.
The headway will also be shorter than before, which counted as 18 minutes with stop times of about 20 seconds at every station.
"After the trial, we will immediately have an evaluation so that the reduction in LRT travel time could be reached," Suryanti added.
