Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto met with New Zealand Prime Minister Christopher Luxon to discuss strengthening bilateral economic cooperation in trade and innovation.

The meeting took place in Lima, Peru, on Friday (November 15) local time, on the sidelines of the Asia-Pacific Economy Cooperation (APEC) Summit.

In an Instagram post uploaded at @prabowo and @presidenrepublikindonesia on Saturday, the president noted that bilateral cooperation between Indonesia and New Zealand is paramount to strengthening the economy of the Indo-Pacific region.

"We remain committed to enhancing collaboration in the areas of trade, investment, and sustainable innovation," he emphasized.

According to the press release from the Media Team of President Prabowo Subianto, Prime Minister Luxon, at the meeting, expressed his keenness to intensify cooperation between both nations in various sectors, including education and renewable energy.

He also assessed that the direction of Indonesia's economy is improving under the leadership of President Prabowo.

Prabowo also met with Prime Minister of Canada Justin Trudeau in Lima, Peru, on Friday.

He highlighted the strong Indonesia-Canada partnership and stressed the importance of deepening these existing bonds.

"Indonesia and Canada have had very good relations for many decades. We want to enhance these relations," Prabowo remarked.

Meanwhile, Trudeau lauded Prabowo's leadership in Indonesia amid various global challenges.

"It has been great to see Indonesia taking on so many big challenges in such a positive way," he remarked.
