Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Prabowo Subianto met the leaders of Mexico, South Korea, Turkey, and Australia at a MIKTA gathering on the sidelines of the G20 Summit in Brazil on Monday.
MIKTA is an informal partnership between Indonesia, Mexico, South Korea, Turkey, and Australia.
During an exchange with Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, he called out "Viva Zapata!" or "Long-Live Zapata!" She responded with a smile.
Prabowo was referring to Emiliano Zapata, a Mexican revolutionary figure who defended the small people in the 1910s. A movie about Zapata's life, directed by Elia Kazan and starring Marlon Brando, was released in 1952.
In a video on the Presidential Secretariat's YouTube channel, which was accessed from here on Tuesday, the MIKTA leaders could be seen conducting an informal conversation, during which President Prabowo proposed a high-level meeting in Mexico City.
President Sheinbaum welcomed Prabowo's suggestion. "All of you will be welcomed," she said.
The leaders continued the warm conversation, and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan also asked to confirm whether the next MIKTA meeting would be held in Mexico.
President Prabowo and other MIKTA state leaders, including Mexican President Sheinbaum agreed to the plan.
Afterward, President Prabowo exclaimed "Viva Zapata!" while clenching his right fist at chest height.
The MIKTA meeting was organized on the sidelines of the G20 Summit by Mexico as the chair of the partnership this year. The leaders' gathering took place in one of the rooms at the Museum of Modern Art (MAM) in Rio de Janeiro.
The informal meeting started with MIKTA leaders exchanging a brief greeting.
After that, the event continued with a group photo session that reflected the closeness and solidarity between MIKTA countries.
