Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesia has called for stronger multilateralism and accelerated digital transformation at the 58th Annual Meeting of the Asian Development Bank (ADB), held recently in Milan, Italy.
Speaking at the Governors’ Business Session, Deputy Finance Minister Thomas Djiwandono, representing Indonesia, highlighted how rising global uncertainty has increased the vulnerability of supply chains.
According to a statement from the Ministry of Finance on Wednesday, Djiwandono emphasized that multilateralism is essential for delivering mutually beneficial solutions, promoting inclusive growth, and reducing inequality to achieve shared prosperity.
He stressed ADB's key role in supporting member countries' efforts to strengthen multilateral cooperation.
“With its ability to mobilize financial resources, a broad knowledge base, and strong commitment to regional collaboration, ADB is a vital partner in shaping a more just, responsive, and resilient global system,” he said.
Indonesia urged ADB to attract greater private sector investment, promote stronger public-private partnerships, and expand policy-based lending to support reforms in member countries.
The country also reaffirmed its commitment to working closely with ADB and other members by sharing experiences to help build a more prosperous Asia-Pacific region.
In the Governors' Plenary session, Djiwandono shared Indonesia’s perspective on regional integration through digital transformation.
He noted that Indonesia is placing digital transformation at the core of its national development agenda, aiming for inclusive and sustainable progress.
He also expressed hope that ADB would deepen collaboration with sub-regional organizations such as ASEAN, particularly in harmonizing regulations, facilitating cross-border data flows, and maximizing the benefits of development.
Through its participation in the meeting, Indonesia reiterated the need to strengthen multilateralism, accelerate policy reforms, and prioritize digital transformation to drive inclusive economic growth across the region.
