Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Prabowo Subianto left for Saudi Arabia from Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base in Jakarta on Tuesday afternoon to discuss Hajj implementation, from where he will head to Brazil to attend the BRICS Summit.
Prabowo is scheduled to meet with the Saudi Arabian government to discuss the implementation of the Hajj, including Hajj quota expansion, and a plan to build an Indonesian Hajj village in Mecca, Saudi Arabia.
Religious Affairs Minister Nasaruddin Umar, who will be accompanying President Prabowo during the working visit, left for Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, earlier on the same day.
“One of the agendas is the plan to build an Indonesian Hajj village in Mecca,” Umar said in Jakarta on Tuesday.
Prabowo is also scheduled to attend the BRICS Summit, which will take place from July 6–8, 2025, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
Indonesia is said to be preparing to join the New Development Bank (NDB) at the summit. NDB is a development bank established by BRICS member countries, namely, Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa.
Foreign Affairs Minister Sugiono and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya are also accompanying the President on the visit.
