Banyuwangi (ANTARA) - Indonesia's Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka met with families of the victims of the sunken Tunu Pratama Jaya ferry in the waiting room of Ketapang Port, Banyuwangi District, East Java, on Sunday.

Gibran shared grief with the families, who were waiting for news from rescuers still searching for their loved ones.

During his visit to Ketapang Port, Gibran was accompanied by East Java Vice Governor Emil Elistianto Dardak and Banyuwangi District Head Ipuk Fiestiandani.

At the lobby of state-owned seaport operator PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry-Ketapang Office, the vice president listened to National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas) Deputy for Search and Rescue Operations and Preparedness, Ribut Eko Suyanto's presentation.

In his presentation, Suyanto explained about the utmost efforts the joint team of rescuers have been making since the first day of the ferry mishap to the fourth day of SAR mission.

Gibran also inspected the Joint SAR Command Post located in the ASDP Ketapang Office's monitoring room.

As of Sunday morning, based on the Joint SAR Command Post's data, 30 people on board the vessel had been confirmed alive while 29 others remained missing. The death toll from the ferry accident stood at six. ​​​​​​​

The Tunu Pratama Jaya ferry with 53 passengers, 12 crew, and 22 vehicles on board sank in the Bali Strait on Wednesday, at around 11:35 p.m. local time.
