Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesian Deputy Minister of Culture Giring Ganesha Djumaryo is upbeat that arts and cultural exchanges between Indonesia and Thailand would continue into the future.
"I hope our cultural exchanges will continue in the future. For example, through the artists' presidency, Indonesian artists can study in Thailand, and Thai artists can study in Indonesia. This aligns with the vision of Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto," he remarked.
Djumaryo made this statement while delivering a speech at the 75th anniversary of Indonesia-Thailand diplomatic relations in Jakarta on Thursday evening.
He remarked that the celebration marks a significant milestone on the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Thailand and Indonesia.
He stated that arts and culture can heal wounds, bridge differences, and bring people closer together, as they can allow people to share emotions and foster mutual understanding in the context of international relations and geopolitics.
Culture can reach far and wide, but politics, or even military power, cannot. Culture is the universal language of humanity that unites us all," he remarked.
He further explained that after 79 years of independence, Indonesia finally has a Ministry of Culture as Indonesian President Prabowo envisions his ministers focusing on empowering Indonesian culture.
"We believe that the power of arts and culture can unite us as part of soft power diplomacy, not only domestically, but also for humanity. That is why museums, national gatherings, and arts venues must be at the forefront," he remarked.
Meanwhile, on May 7, Minister of Culture Fadli Zon received the highly spiritual and academic cultural award, The World Tipitaka Saj-jh-ya Phonetic Recitation, in celebration of 75 years of Indonesia-Thailand relations.
"It is a great honor to receive this offering of the Tipitaka Saj-jh-ya Phonetic from the Kingdom of Thailand. It is a symbol of wisdom and profound friendship," Djumaryo stated.
