Sleman, Yogyakarta (ANTARA) - Hoisting One Piece's Jolly Roger flag, which has triggered a public debate over the past days, is no problem as long as the Red and White flag continues to be respected, according to Special Staff for Public Communications of Defense Ministry Deodatus Andreas Deddy Cahyadi Sunjoyo.

Sunjoyo, well known as Deddy Corbuzier, said that it is fine, as long as the Jolly Roger flag is not installed higher than the Red and White Flag.

"If it is put above the Indonesian flag, its size is bigger than Indonesian flag, meaning that you mock your own country," Deddy Corbuzier said during UPN Veteran's new students enrollment in Sleman, Yogyakarta, on Monday.

He noted that people are free to wave whatever flags they want, except the flag with the hammer and sickle icon, which is reminiscent of the design of the banned Indonesian Communist Party (PKI)'s.

He further said that waving the Jolly Roger flag, which has been discussed as of late, is a way for people to express their hopes and expectations.

"What's (behind) the 'One Piece' flag? A symbol of struggle, no? The text reads 'when government fails, we sail', no? I see it as a message of hope. Hope from our people to fight," he added.

The issue is not the design of flags that is placed, but the way it is installed must adhere to the etiquette so it respects the symbol of the country.

"A flag with a teddy bear image (waved) above the Indonesian flag is not allowed. A flag with your face on it, the size bigger than the Indonesian flag above it, is not allowed, either. It's not about One Piece. It's about how sacred the Red and White flag is," he added.

Sunjoyo expected that people can remember once more about how hard it is to wave the Red and White flag up high. During colonial times, many died when they tried to rip off the blue on Netherlands' flag, he noted.

Sunjoyo once more stressed that people are free to wave whatever flag they like, as long as it is not placed above the Red and White flag.

"If you could, you would put a flag with my face on it. But don't put it above (Red and White flag), or you'll get me arrested," he stated.
