Jayapura (ANTARA) - Indonesia's Transport Safety Agency (KNKT) is scheduled to arrive in Ilaga Subdistrict, Puncak District, on Tuesday to investigate a cargo plane fire involving Amole Air at Aminggaru Airport in Central Papua, police said.

The Amole Air Grand Caravan aircraft, registered as PK-PPI, caught fire on Monday after crashing into a military post shortly after landing, Puncak Police Chief Commissioner Mardi Marpaung said.

Speaking to ANTARA in a phone interview from Jayapura, the capital of Papua Province, he said that initial reports suggest the plane lost balance while landing and struck a Kopasgat (the Indonesian Air Force's Rapid Force Corps) checkpoint near the runway.

No casualties were reported, and the wreckage has been moved to the side of the airport to allow operations to resume, with flights expected to return to normal on Tuesday, he said.

Only one evacuation flight operated on Monday to transport the pilot, Andi Rezhar, and technician, Amianus, to Timika District, Central Papua Province, he said.

"All crew members have been evacuated to Timika," Marpaung added.
