Jakarta (ANTARA) - The University of Indonesia (UI) has graduated 1,914 students from its health sciences faculties for the 2024/2025 second semester, with 943 receiving cum laude honors and 88 achieving summa cum laude with grade point averages above 3.90.

The students came from the faculties of medicine, nursing, pharmacy, and public health. UI Rector Heri Hermansyah said the university is graduating a total of 9,817 students across faculties in five sessions ending September 13, 2025.

“Congratulations for reaching the finish line of a long marathon in education. In particular, I salute graduates who endured challenges, from entrance exams to pandemic-era studies, thesis defenses, and now wearing the toga proudly today,” Hermansyah said.

He noted that the graduation coincided with several milestones for UI on the global stage. The university is now ranked eighth in Southeast Asia, 46th in Asia, and for the first time, 189th worldwide, surpassing Ohio State University, which ranked 190th.

“These rankings show that UI’s reputation continues to grow, and I hope they inspire our graduates to pursue further success after leaving campus,” Hermansyah said.

He urged graduates to become “impactful and prominent alumni,” whether by advancing careers, continuing studies, starting businesses, or raising families.

Hermansyah also highlighted changes to the graduation format. Previously, graduates were seated in the center of the auditorium, while families and guests were placed in tents outside.

“Starting this semester, we introduced a new seating layout. Graduates are now spread across the tribunes in five sessions, while parents and companions sit in the middle, so they can join more directly in this special event,” he said.
