Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) has sent 2.5 tonnes of aid, valued at approximately Rp207 million (USD 12,622), to Bali to bolster emergency response efforts following recent floods.
Head of PMI, Arifin M Hadi, said here on Friday that the aid includes a water tanker, 500 sarongs, 500 mosquito nets, 200 hygiene kits, 50 family kits, 50 baby kits, and 10 tarpaulins measuring 4x50 metres. The logistics were sent from the regional warehouse in Gresik, East Java.
"The aid is expected to arrive at Bali PMI office on Friday afternoon, and it will be managed and distributed by PMI to people who are affected, in accordance with assessment regarding people's needs," Hadi stated.
The flood, which hit Bali on September 9-10, 2025, has become a concern for many, including PMI. Hence, his administration is carrying out the best efforts to improve emergency response by Bali PMI office.
On the same occasion, Head of Bali PMI, Budi Saharjo, stated that his administration and units across Bali are collaborating to help the victims by conducting assessments, distributing aid and clean water, providing ambulance services, operating a public kitchen, and erecting an emergency response post.
"PMI also accepts aid from the public to be distributed to people who are affected," Saharjo added.
In a separate statement, Bali's Regional Disaster Mitigation Agency stated that in the last three days, the government has set up shelters. Over time, the situation has improved, and the number of people in shelters has lessened, according to the agency's head I Gede Agung Teja Bhusana Yadnya.
Yadnya noted that there are two sites where the shelters are established. In Denpasar, some 186 refugees seek shelter across six posts, and in Jembrana, there are 250 refugees in two posts.
As of 06:00 a.m.local time, the massive flood in Bali has claimed 18 lives, he confirmed. Moreover, two people are still being searched for by a joint search and rescue team.
