Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Indonesian National Alms Agency (Baznas) has stepped in to assist residents affected by recent flooding in Bali Province by setting up public kitchens, conducting clean-up activities, and distributing basic supplies.

"In response to the disaster, Baznas promptly deployed teams to provide humanitarian services. We aim to ensure that zakat (Islamic alms) truly benefits citizens in need during this emergency," Head of the Baznas Distribution and Utilization Division Saidah Sakwan said in a statement on Wednesday.

She noted that Baznas has been distributing clean water, hygiene kits, infant and toddler supplies, blankets, and other essential items to residents in Bali.

The national philanthropic agency is working with its regional office in Bali to mobilize personnel in Denpasar City to help flood survivors meet their basic needs.

"We are setting up refugee shelters and kitchens in several locations, including Padanggalak in Kesiman Village, East Denpasar Sub-district, and Pulau Biak Street in Dauh Puri Village, West Denpasar Sub-district," Sakwan said.

Baznas has so far distributed 1,500 portions of ready-to-eat meals to several shelters, she added.

"In addition to meals and clean water, Baznas will mobilize more logistics and conduct clean-up operations and disinfectant spraying in Padanggalak and at Kumbasari Market," she said, emphasizing the agency’s commitment to post-flood recovery.

She expressed hope that these efforts would help Bali residents recover and resume their daily routines without prolonged disruption.

Meanwhile, the Denpasar municipal government has lowered the disaster status from emergency to recovery transition, effective from September 17 to December 17, 2025.

Authorities plan to use this period to accelerate recovery in key sectors, including education, infrastructure, health, and the economy.
