Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesia and Switzerland reiterated their commitment to deepen collaboration in bolstering manpower quality during the 5th Tripartite Labour Dialogue between representatives of the two countries on Tuesday.
"Indonesia-Switzerland collaboration is expected to create innovative approaches in human resources development and competitive workforce capability improvement," Manpower Ministry Secretary General Cris Kuntadi stated in his written remarks here.
According to the ministry official, the tripartite dialogue was a follow-up to the bilateral memorandum of understanding on cooperation on labour and employment issues signed in Geneva on June 18, 2019, and valid until 2029.
During the bilateral meeting, representatives from both countries discussed four main labour issues, with the first being public employment services aimed at people with disabilities, younger workers, and elderly workers.
"Indonesia highlighted its manpower services digitisation through the SIAPKerja platform and the formation of disability service units in 31 provinces nationwide," he noted.
The second issue, he said, was the future of work, which necessitated improvements in manpower upskilling and reskilling strategies to face industrial changes due to digitisation, automation, and the green transition.
Kuntadi said that Indonesia has a "triple skilling" programme through vocational training, work certification, and nationwide internship programmes.
During the discussion of the third issue on renewable energy skills development (RESD), Indonesia and Switzerland agreed to enhance cooperation in the training and certification for the renewable energy sector, he noted.
In the last issue on International Labour Organisation (ILO) employment ecosystem and platform economy issues, the two countries reiterated the importance of labour policy coordination amid multilateral challenges, as well as protection for workers in digital economic sectors.
Meanwhile, Head of Labour Directorate at the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs, Jerome Cosandey, reiterated the importance of tripartite dialogue between the government, the employers, and the workers to ensure inclusive and sustainable labour policies.
