Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology reaffirmed Indonesia's openness to collaborate with global educational institutions to boost national capacity, particularly in the fields of talent development, research, and innovation.
This was highlighted by the ministry's Director General of Research and Development, Fauzan Adziman, at the 5th Education Investment Forum (EIF) 2026 in Jakarta on Tuesday (April 14).
"International cooperation should not be seen merely as expanding access to education, but must be directed toward fostering strategic partnerships that impact long-term national development needs," he said in a statement in Jakarta on Wednesday.
He asserted that expanding strategic international partnerships is part of an effort to drive the transformation of the learning system and strengthen the national research ecosystem.
Adziman further underscored the importance of establishing partnership models rooted in an understanding of existing gaps as a key factor in ensuring successful collaboration.
"This is necessary to ensure that every cooperation is effective, sustainable, and provides optimal benefits for all parties," he said.
He affirmed that his ministry continues to provide space for various adaptive cooperation schemes, including research collaboration and joint program development aligned with national priority policies, as part of the effort to strengthen synergy between domestic institutions and international partners.
"Well-targeted and sustainable partnerships will be a vital factor in optimizing the contribution of research and education toward national development," the director general remarked.
The 5th EIF, themed Funding the Future of Learning, brought together government representatives and global institutions to share their experiences in developing partnerships in Indonesia, including adapting cooperation models and strengthening collaboration with local partners.
