Jakarta (ANTARA) - Women’s Empowerment Minister Arifatul Choiri Fauzi called for reforms to women’s healthcare, including discrimination-free services and stronger protection systems, to improve outcomes and safeguard future generations.

She said better healthcare is crucial as women shape future generations, citing stunting as linked not only to childbirth but also maternal health during pregnancy.

“Mental health is also a concern, with about 10 percent of the global population, including Indonesia, experiencing disorders,” she said at a national forum on Wednesday.

She said the first step is ensuring safe, women-friendly healthcare services free from discrimination.

Second, she called for stronger prevention and early disease detection at all life stages, alongside expanded access for women in remote and vulnerable communities.

“Fourth, integrate healthcare with violence protection systems, strengthen mental health services, and improve health literacy,” she said.

At the same event, Deputy Minister Ratu Ayu Isyana Bagoes Oka said policies must be inclusive, as women face diverse conditions.

“Every Indonesian woman must have equal access to quality care, information and protection to build a resilient future,” she said.
