Taipei (ANTARA News/CNA) The first halal restaurant at Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport has opened for business to provide better service to passengers using the nation`s major gateway, according to the airport`s state-run operator.

The restaurant at Terminal One serves Thai and Indian food prepared in accordance with the shari`a, the code of law based on the Koran, said Taoyuan International Airport Corporation.

It has been certified to be Muslim friendly by Taiwan`s Chinese Muslim Association (CMA), becoming the 15th restaurant in Taiwan to receive the certification, said the corporation.

In order to be certified, a restaurant has to meet strict conditions in the selection of foodstuff, cooking and table serving as well as having a dedicated kitchen and tableware.
