Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Jakarta Metropolitan Police have named a person, with the initial L, as a suspect in the bomb explosion in Alam Sutera Shopping Mall in Serpong, Banten, on Wednesday.

"The suspect wore a black shirt and carried a backpack. We recognized him from his movements recorded in the CCTV footage of the mall," the police commands chief, Inspector Geneal Tito Karnavian, stated at a press conference here on Thursday.

He noted that L was a senior supervisor and an information technology expert employed in a company located near the shopping mall.

He remarked that L often frequented the mall, and hence, he was well-versed with the shortcuts to the location that he used to conceal himself while carrying the bomb into the mall.

Not long after the incident, L was arrested by the Jakarta Metropolitan police in cooperation with the anti-terrorist squad, Densus 88.

"We arrested the suspect at his house, which is not far from the site and confiscated some explosives as evidence," he revealed.

L will be charged with violating Law Number 15 of 2003 on terrorism, and if proven guilty, he could face life imprisonment.

A bomb exploded at 12:05 p.m. local time on Wednesday in a canteen on the LG floor of the Alam Sutera Mall when employees were on a lunch break, leaving one person wounded.(*)
