Bandung, W Java (ANTARA News) - Four out of 34 contingents have not secured medals as the 19th National Sports Week (PON) entered its sixth day on Monday.

Although the hunt for medals started six days ago, four contingents of Gorontalo, North Maluku, North Sulawesi and East Nusa Tenggara provinces have not won medals.

In total, host West Java snatched 63 gold medals, 30 silver medals and 35 bronze medals, leaving its two close rivals, Jakarta and East Java, far behind.

Just on Monday, the West Java contingent dubbed Laskar Tanah Legenda won 14 gold medals from cycling, karate, swimming, judo, drumband, rowing and indoor hockey.

The 14 gold medals are the largest number of medals the host contingent has ever achieved on a daily basis

This means that West Java snatched 50 percent of gold medals up for grabs on Monday.

West Java still showed its dominance in the struggle for medals on the second day of the 14th PON on Monday. West Java is a step away from being an overall champion in the judo, swimming, and drumband.

In addition, West Java's rowing team showed its best performance.(*)
