"As of Friday (Sept 23, 2016), 31 new records have been created in swimming, four in weightlifting and five in diving," chief of the competition section of the 19th PONs organizing committee, Yudha M Saputra, stated here on Friday.
These are more records than those created in the previous edition of PON held in Pekanbaru, Riau province, in 2012.
"I am convinced that even more new records will be created during the 19th PON as many games such as athletics were yet to see contests," he added.
Nine PON records and one Asian Games record were broken at the 19th PON.
