Pangkalpinang, Bangka-Belitung (ANTARA News) - Indonesia`s state-owned tin company PT Timah Tbk will build a tin smelter in Nigeria as part of expansion efforts to secure new tin ore reserves, a company official announced Friday.

"In the near future PT Timah will be able to produce tin ore and build a smelter in Nigeria," Timah`s Director for Business Development and Commerce, Trenggono Sutioso told a focus group.

The tin ore mining and smelter development project is the beginning of PT Timah`s efforts to find fresh reserves and it comes after the 2017 signing of a cooperation agreement with the Nigerian company, Topwide Ventures, he said.

"This is the initial step by PT Timah in its efforts to expand and secure new tin ore reserves in Nigeria," he said.
