Jakarta (ANTARA News) - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) will attend the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit scheduled in Papua New Guinea on Nov 17 and 18 to discuss digital economy and future APEC potentials, Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi said here on Thursday.

"The summit will discuss digital economy and the future of APEC, especially APEC?s status after 2020," she stated, after a limited cabinet meeting on preparations of the president`s working visits to Singapore to attend the ASEAN Summit and the APEC Summit in Papua New Guinea, at the presidential office.

Marsudi noted that the head of Capital Investment Coordinating Board, Thomas Lembong, would depart for Port Moresby to attend the APEC ministerial-level meeting.

According to the official APEC website, a number of high-ranking officials would attend the APEC meeting that carries a theme of "Taking Inclusive Opportunity, Embrace Digital Future."

The focus of the meeting will be to build common goals in trade to assure growth, employment, and improvement of quality of life of the people across the Asia Pacific region.
