Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Indonesia`s current account suffered a deficit of US$31.1 billion, accounting for 2.98 percent of the national gross domestic product (GDP) last year, according to Bank Indonesia (BI).

The figure is still consistent with the forecast of some three percent of the GDP of the central bank and government, Executive Director of the BI Statistics Department Yati Kurniati noted at a press conference here on Friday.

"The current account deficit is 2.98 percent of the GDP, lower than the threshold," she remarked.

The country`s current account recorded a deficit of US$17.3 billion, or 1.7 percent of the GDP, in 2017.
