Padang, (ANTARA) -

Some 100 followers of the Naqshbandiyah of Baitul Makmur House Prayer Congregation, Pasar Baru, Pauh Subdistrict, Padang, have been marked by the chanting of the Eid al-Fitr prayer 1440 Hijri on Monday morning.

The reciting of Eid Al-Fitr Prayers in Baitul Makmur, House of Prayer, located 15 kilometers from the center of the city of Padang starting at 08.00 WIB, took place with the reading of the takbir by all worshipers.

But there is something different in the chanting of the Eid prayer, as after the prayer it is usually followed by a sermon, but the Naqshbandiyah congregation continues by reading the prayer together for about 30 minutes.

After that, it continues with the reading of the Eid al-Fitr sermon by the Murshid (leader) of the Naqshbandiyah Congregation of Baitul Makmur House of Prayers Syafri Malin Mudo.

The sermon was read in Arabic, which was preceded by the call to prayer by one of the worshipers.

When reading sermons, the preacher stood, holding a wooden stick, dressed in white and wearing a turban, while holding a book which contained sermons.

According to the murshid of the Naqshbandiyah Congregation of Baitul Makmur House of Prayers Syafri Malin Mudo, 1 Shawwal 1440 Hijri falls on Monday, June 3, 2019.

This is based on the calculation of the Munjid reckoning method and the rukyatul hilal (seeing the moon) that is used in determining the beginning of the month, he said.

According to the murshid, the method of calculating munjid used by the Naqshbandiyah Congregation to determine the beginning of the month originated in Mecca and was written by local scholars.

Also, the rukyatul hilal (viewing the moon) is carried out on the 8th, 15th, 22nd and 30th of Syaban.

He said that despite the different implementation of Eid al-Fitr with the government, his party did not have any problems with the calculation.

"The government has a basis in establishing Eid al-Fitr, we also have a basis that refers to the Qur'an and Hadith," he continued.

He mentioned that in Padang there were dozens of mosques and prayer rooms which were the centers of worship for the Naqshbandiyah Congregation.

The mosque and mushalla are spread out in Pauh District and Lubuk Kilangan District. In Pasar Baru there are two prayer rooms and in Lubuk Subdistrict, there are 29 mushala.

After performing the prayer, the Naqshbandiyah congregation shook hands and apologized, followed by eating together.
