Jayapura, Papua (ANTARA) - The Indonesian consulate in Papua New Guinea (PNG) will be organizing a meeting between officials of Bank Indonesia (BI) and 40 PNG businessmen in Vanimo, Thursday. The businessmen invited to the meeting will come from the provinces of Sandaun and Wewak, the Indonesian consul in Vanimo, Abraham Lebelauw said Wednesday.

During the meeting, the organizing committee will also invite the PNG businessmen to visit Trade Expo Indonesia which is held annually in Jakarta's southwestern outskirts of Serpong in October.

"The event is aimed at informing the PNG businessmen of exhibitions that they can take part in Indonesia," he said.

Earlier, two PNG businessmen were invited to take part in the expo. The PNG deputy foreign minister and deputy trade minister also visited the expo when they were visiting Jakarta.

The two deputy ministers also visited Merauke to see for themselves the agriculture on the eastern tip of Indonesia.

"PNG is looking into the possibility of buying rice from Merauke particularly to meet the demands of its people living in the southern part of the country," he said.
