"This afternoon, the transportation minister is planned to review the location where the type A bus terminal is being constructed in Demak, located in Jogoloyo Village, Wonosalam District - Demak," Head of the Communication and Public Information Bureau Hengki Angkasawan noted in a press release received here on Saturday.
The Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub), through the Directorate General of Land Transportation, is revitalizing the type A bus terminals across Indonesia. This is part of the Road-Based Mass Transportation Infrastructure Improvement Program, as the Ministry of Transportation endeavors to reform mass public transportation services in Indonesia.
The program targets to revitalize type A bus passenger terminals that encompasses service upgrades to catch up with the developments to airport.
"The revitalization program is expected to further increase public interest to use mass public transportation, such as buses, instead of private vehicles," the head explained
Moreover, it is expected that with this new terminal, autobus entrepreneurs will also jointly provide optimal services by operating good and roadworthy buses to ensure optimal safety and comfort to the community.
The type A bus terminal in Demak will be built on a land area covering 51 thousand square meters that is targeted for completion in 2020.
In accordance with the implementation of Law Number 23 of 2014 on Regional Government, the process of transferring personnel, equipment, funding, and documents of the Type A Passenger Terminal from the regional government to the central government has been completed.
