Jakarta (ANTARA) - Nadiem Makarim, who founded online transportation platform Gojek, has accepted the offer to occupy a ministerial berth in President Joko Widodo's cabinet.

"I have been informed, and I have formally accepted the offer," Makarim confirmed at the State Palace foyer in Jakarta, Monday, shortly after meeting with the president in the palace.

Despite having accepted the offer, Makarim appeared disinclined to divulge details on the ministerial position he was offered.

Makarim further added that his discussion with the president centered on the vision and innovation that can be conducted by the government while moving forward.

"I have in mind several innovations, but I cannot reveal them now," he stated.

The president has invited several figures to the State Palace for discussions on ministerial positions in his new cabinet for the 2019-2024 term.

Apart from Makarim, some of those present at the palace grounds comprised Sub-district Head of South Minahasa Christiany Eugenia Paruntu, former Head Judge of the Constitutional Court Mahfud MD, Chief Commissioner of Netmediatama Wishnutama, entrepreneur Erick Thohir, and Golkar party leader Airlangga Hartarto.
